Sony is currently in the process of handing out some free PlayStation Store credit, so it might be time to check your email if you were impacted by a festive issue last year.
Thank you in advance to PlayStation Lifestyle's Zarmena Khan for the original story!
On Christmas Eve last year, it seems that all PlayStation players worldwide were affected by a very odd issue.

Should you have tried to redeem any kind of code on 24 December, you might have noticed that it just… didn’t work, for some reason.
Apparently this issue only lasted for a single day but affected every user on all PlayStation platforms. Obviously this was over two months ago now, so most probably just assumed it was a little blip and Sony was planning to pretend it never happened.
However, one reader contacted PlayStation Lifestyle who forwarded them an email they received from Sony, noting that they would be directly compensated for the issue.
“We are aware that on 12/24/24 a systems error resulted in users being unable to redeem voucher codes on the PlayStation Store,” states the email, “and we have identified your account as one impacted by this error."

PS5 users have Ghost of Yōtei to look forward to this year.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and have provided you with a 10 USD wallet credit. Your voucher should now be redeemable as well if you have not yet redeemed it.”
By the sounds of things, you’re only going to be receiving any monetary freebies if you specifically tried to redeem anything on 24 December.

That might be a bit of a long shot for some of you, but I’d still recommend checking your email just in case.
No word on whether or not this is only being offered to American PlayStation users as of now, but assumedly it’s not a region-locked form of compensation. Either way, make sure you don’t check so you don’t potentially miss out on a free tenner!
