An underrated PlayStation Vita game is getting a remaster for modern platforms, not Xbox though.
Originally published by Sony, Freedom Wars is a game set in a dystopian future, where humans are essentially born imprisoned and must undergo harrowing missions to earn their freedom, competing with each other at the same time.
Check out the trailer for the remaster below
The gameplay is that of a standard action-adventure game, with players exploring the prison and fighting a variety of enemies in fast-paced combat encounters.

You can either fight alone or team-up with other players for a greater chance of survival, and the option to take on more difficult missions.
It looks like a solid game, and it’s nice to see it return for a modern-day audience on more consoles than just Sony’s handheld.
The remaster as Bandai Namco has put it will include a variety of enhancements to the game, including “4K resolution, upgraded textures, and 60fps for current gen platforms.
Freedom War’s initial release was published by Sony for the PlayStation Vita but the remaster will be published by Bandai Namco and will launch for the PlayStation 4/5, the Nintendo Switch and PC.

Why Xbox isn’t getting the game is unknown, but fans have quickly called out the weird omission especially since Bandai Namco has worked well with Xbox in the past.
In all likelihood it’s probably due to the fact it was a PlayStation Vita game, and while it’s not a huge loss for Xbox it’s still annoying for fans that wanted to play it on Microsoft’s system.
Given how it’s being remastered it’s probably safe to say the original version won’t be coming to PlayStation Plus as one of the classic game library additions, though I don’t know why you’d want to play that version over a remaster.
The remastered Freedom Wars will launch next year on 10 January for the systems mentioned above.
