This is a lovely surprise to start the day. If you’re a fan of Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Sumo Digital has just announced a brand new free costume that all PlayStation owners can nab at no cost very soon from the PlayStation Store, no PlayStation Plus required.
I hate to admit it but I was pretty late to the Sackboy: A Big Adventure party. The game was a PlayStation 5 launch title but it’s only in the past couple of weeks that I've finally given it a whirl. If you’re in the same position, I highly recommend checking the game out if you’re a fan of 3D platformers. Sackboy: A Big Adventure is very much in the same vein as Astro’s Playroom. It makes full use of the DualSense controller to create an immersive and unique experience that is utterly joyful - and I feel very silly for waiting this long to give it a try.
Take a look at Sackboy: A Big Adventure in action below.
You don’t need to have played other LittleBigPlanet entries, with A Big Adventure serving as a standalone story. If you do so happen to be a PlayStation Plus member, Sackboy is available on the service’s extra tier, and was previously an essential tier title in April of last year. It’s apt that I previously mentioned Astro’s Playroom because that leads nicely into today’s freebie.

An Astro costume is being made available as free DLC. Announcing the costume, developers tweeted, “The heroes of PlayStation platforming adventures combine with Sackboy’s new out-of-this-world ASTRO BOT Costume! Take ASTRO BOT with you on your adventures in Sackboy: A Big Adventure with this FREE COSTUME available to download from March 8th.”
The costume will be available to grab on the PlayStation Store where you can also download a bunch of other free Sackboy costumes. My lil fella is donning a The Last of Us Part II Abby skin, but you can also choose from Aloy, Ellie, Nathan Drake, Kratos, and Freya just to name a few. When they’re free, how can you say no?
