PlayStation announces surprise free download, no PS Plus required

More PlayStation goodness for free

PlayStation fans, and Astro Bot lovers, have been surprised with the announcement of a bunch of new levels coming to the acclaimed platformer.

Astro Bot, quite rightly, swept up a wealth of awards as a standout release from 2024, constantly wowing PlayStation owners.

Astro Bot is getting more new levels this month

In a bizarre move, Sony didn’t seem to want to announce these five new levels for Astro Bot during their recent State of Play showcase.

Considering the number of awards the game received, you would think that Sony would want to showcase new speedrun levels, a batch of five, at their own event.

However, the company decided that the day after was better, which left some fans baffled, with one saying, “They should’ve shown this yesterday. It’s good to know that we’re getting new content for the game this year.”

Honestly, it matters not, because more levels for one of the best platformers in recent years, is a very good thing.

Much like the last batch of extra levels, your skills will be challenged, though rewards will come from more exclusive bots to seek out.

Fans on Twitter are thrilled to see more Astro Bot coming, with one noting, “The best game of 2024 strikes again!”

Release of the levels will be staggered, with one launching each week throughout February and into early-March.

We’re massive fans of the game, here, and we’ll all be dashing to our PS5s to gobble up this new content drop, courtesy of Sony.

Hopefully, the game will keep getting new levels throughout 2025.

The PlayStation blog has all the details you’ll need, but it’s worth noting that you don’t need PlayStation Plus to grab these new levels.

It starts with Tick-Tock Shock on 13 February, and over the following weeks we’ll get, Thrust or Bust, Cock-A-Doodle-Doom, Hard to Bear, and Armored Hardcore.
