The fury of gamers is once again locked and loaded, only this time they’ve taken aim at the PlayStation 5.
What makes their annoyance even more curious is the fact that they’re annoyed at the PS5 because of a PS6 release date “leak”.
The PS5 feels like a controversial console.

It shouldn’t be considered as such, yet given the fact that it’s already nearing the end of its lifecycle, it’s become a symbol of what gamers dislike about the industry.
When PlayStation made the bold statement that the PS5 was entering the “latter stage” of its lifecycle, fans agreed that it was being replaced by the PS6 way too soon.

Their concerns seem well founded if this PS6 launch date rumour is to be believed; it’s speculated to be released in 2028.
“It’s so unbelievably weird how we’re like three ish years into PS5’s generation and there’s already talk about a PS6? Didn’t the PS4 go on for like a little over a decade?” asked HatAccurate1578.
Although the maths is a little off here, the sense that the PS5 has barely started to gather momentum, only to be reaching its end, remains.
It’s a feeling compounded by the release of the PS5 Pro.

Now that the newer, better PS5 model is here, it feels like “only a matter of time” before we’re placing preorders for the PS6.
Fans are angry because there’s “little to no value to buying a PS5”, even more so if the PS6 is going to launch in 2028.
“I really hope they take their time releasing the PS6,” commented Better-Sort-6085. “I just bought a PS5 and I haven’t played video games in years. I would be so disappointed if they released the PS6 in a year or two.”
Further down in the comments, user KC_CO1 said “Xbox won, good luck Sony.”
