PlayStation 6 pricing has fans more concerned than ever: 'I'm scared'

Start saving up

I love video games but there’s no denying the constant increase in console prices are starting to get a bit ridiculous.

The same can be said for the games themselves too, as while the Nintendo Switch 2 seems pretty reasonably priced the cost of its games have caused concern online. It was also theorised that Nintendo was waiting for the tariffs to be announced before deciding how much to charge for the console.

Mario Kart World will cost a staggering amount to buy physical for example, something many fans have taken offense to

PlayStation fans also have something to be concerned about, as if the PlayStation 6 wasn’t going to cost an arm and a leg before it certainly will now due to new U.S tariffs.

“So, if these tariffs go into effect, once the supply that's been already shipped here to the USA runs out, the cost of a PS5 is going to be roughly $750 for a slim model” read one fan's take on the tariffs online.

While this spurred plenty of discussions on how it’s affecting hardware prices now many pointed out it’ll wreak havoc on future console prices as well, namely the unrevealed PlayStation 6.

“I'm scared of how much the PS6 will cost” read one of the responses, and another added “It absolutely won’t be below $1,000.”

Another jokingly theorised it’ll be “$1,400. No disc drive. DualSense is compatible to try to save you money, but does not come with a controller.”

Now I’m sure many would suggest we all get PCs instead, and while that’s looking less and less like a bad idea it doesn’t really solve the problem entirely.

Hopefully by the time the PlayStation 6 and whatever Xbox is cooking up next is out, these tariffs will have either been reversed or at least altered to be less irritating.
