In what has been an incredible year for video game releases, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a game that is one of 2023’s headliners.
Developed by Insomniac Games, this PlayStation 5 exclusive lets you play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales with the ability to switch characters on the fly on a map that is roughly twice the size of the first game that was released in 2018. Yet, fans have been calling to play Venom, an arch nemesis of Peter Parker and one of the featured villains in the sequel.

At this time there are no concrete plans for Venom to be a playable character in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, though rumours have been circulating that a spin-off game starring the corrupted symbiote could be in development. However, until that time may or may not arrive, a fan has taken matters into their own hands.

As reported by PlayStation Lifestyle, a YouTuber named Ellemen has discovered a glitch that allows you to play as Venom. That being said, it has been warned that performing this glitch could break your game, so please keep that in mind if you’re tempted by this exploit.
Ellemen warns that the glitch can prevent enemies such as Kraven the Hunter from spawning when returning to a previous checkpoint. It is suggested that the exploit should only be performed on a manual save so that you can return to your game glitch-free afterwards.
What’s more, I will also mention a spoiler in the campaign from the mission ‘Don’t Be Scared’, so please consider this to be your spoiler warning. Right, let’s get into it, shall we?
When you reach the aforementioned mission in the campaign, you will take temporary control of Venom at Oscorp Tower. At this point, Ellemen explains in a video that as soon as Venom is in the open city, you must then climb a tower to the left. Once the top of the tower is reached, you should encounter invisible walls.

Apparently, running into the invisible wall on the right deactivates the invisible wall on the left. This will then allow you to free-roam the city as you please, though you will likely encounter odd glitches. After all, Insomniac Games never intended players to control Venom in such a way. That being said, it is also likely that the developers will patch out this exploit in the near future.
