Yesterday’s PlayStation 5 Pro presentation confirmed that Horizon Forbidden West is one of the games that’ll soon benefit from a graphics and performance upgrade.
I don’t think that news was particularly welcomed by anyone though.
It’s hard to avoid the fact that the PlayStation 5 Pro has been met with both outrage and ridicule.

Why? Well, it’ll retail for £699.99 - and that’s just the digital version.
You’re looking at a total just shy of £825 if you want to add a disc drive and vertical stand.
The PlayStation 5 Pro boasts a few nice features - an improved GPU, enhanced ray-tracing, and AI-driven upscaling - but are they enough to justify the price tag?
Most people think not.

Many games, both PlayStation exclusives and third party titles will soon be launching upgrades that take advantage of the PlayStation 5 Pro’s new bells and whistles, whether there’ll be any players to experience said upgrades is another matter.
Horizon Forbidden West is one of those games.
Take a look at the original version of Horizon Forbidden West in action below.
PlayStation 5 Pro architect Mark Cerny showed the PS5 and PS5 Pro versions of Horizon Forbidden West running side by side and admittedly, it was hard to tell the difference.

The PlayStation 5 Pro version may have boasted a slightly better frame rate with marginally crisper levels of detail but then again, if you ask me, Horizon Forbidden West is already one of the best looking games ever created.
This upgrade feels like, dare I say it, a waste of time when there are other Horizon projects that are more in demand.
Of course, a third entry is at the top of that list but so too are many of us eager to see the first game remastered.
Those dead-eyed NPCs could do with some Forbidden West-esque enhancements.

“Cool, but not 800 euros cool,” wrote Reddit user kakeroni2.
“I'm content with the way it is on performance. Probably the best looking game on PS5,” added StructureBig4752.
“Great for those who are planning on getting this with a Pro, but it’s not like it isn’t an utterly gobsmacking game already on PS5,” echoed Joflerx.
I guess we’ll keep on waiting for something a tad meatier.
