Ever since the original God of War game was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2005, it quickly became one of Sony’s flagship franchises for the blue brand.
The original God of War told the story of the demi-god Kratos, who in a nutshell absolutely obliterated the Greek Gods in a blood-thirty act of revenge following the death of his family. In the years that followed, we would see many sequels offering its refined hack-and-slash brutal gameplay across multiple generations.

However, when the series arrived on PlayStation 4 for the first time in 2018, the God of War series would receive a soft reboot. Sure, the 2018 game still followed the events of previous entries and it still featured refined gameplay and epic boss battles, but this entry would be at a more methodical pace and it would be more of a cinematic experience. Oh, and Kratos is now a dad again to his son, Atreus.

God of War (2018) would set a new benchmark for the series earning the ‘Must-Play’ accolade on Metacritic with a mighty score of 94. Its 2022 sequel, God of War Ragnarök would also garner the same score, cementing both games as all-time PlayStation greats.
So this has left many eager fans wondering, when is the next God of War game arriving? What’s more, will we get a direct sequel or will God of War Ragnarök benefit from story DLC? At this time we can only speculate. That being said, according to a recent rumour, God of War Ragnarök might be getting an expansion and it may be arriving sooner than expected.
As shared in a Reddit post by user Ferzsc0, an article from a Spanish media outlet claims that the God of War Ragnarök DLC is on the way and it will be announced in the next two months. It is claimed that the source of information has been verified as reliable, but it’s not yet known how the reveal will take place, whether it be a trailer drop or an announcement at an event such as Sony’s State of Play or the PlayStation Experience.
Obviously, at this time, we should take the rumours with a pinch of salt until we get official confirmation from either Sony or God of War developers, Santa Monica Studio. Regardless, it’s still an exciting prospect nonetheless that a new God of War Ragnarök announcement could be on the way soon. Perhaps we’ll even get God of War Ragnarök announced for PC in the coming months, only time will tell. We’ll of course keep you posted if we hear of any further developments.
