So far, the God of War franchise has taken us from ancient Greece to ancient Scandinavia.
However, fans have been discussing where the story should take us next and it seems as though the options are endless.
God of War Ragnarök explored Norse mythology in its Valhalla DLC. Check it out below!
With 2018’s God of War marking a revival in the series and taking place in ancient Scandinavia, it is easy to forget that the franchise did not start off there.

First released in 2005 for the PlayStation 2, God of War was the first entry in the long-running series and told the story of Kratos, a Spartan warrior who serves the Olympian gods.
Loosely based on Greek mythology and taking place in ancient Greece, the franchise continued this setting up until 2018’s God of War and sequel God of War Ragnarök.
With Santa Monica Studio proving that Kratos can be placed in any setting at any time, it has got fans thinking about where the next entry could take place.
The discussion took place over on r/GodofWar when one user asked, “What direction should the next God of War game take? Without damaging the storyline.”

What followed was almost 700 comments with the answers ranging from the Roman Empire to the ancient Egyptians.
“Not sure what Pantheon but I think it would make sense for Kratos to answer a call for help. We’ve seen him grow so much that proactively protecting others seems to be the next step,” one user suggested.
Another said: “I had an idea I’ve been toying with. Kratos would travel to a new land with Mimir because he’s heard of growing trouble there and Atreus may be involved while in his own quest.
Being a caring father who is worried for Atreus, he’d go there to aid him if he is needed, getting caught up in the drama of those lands and reuniting with his son, now a man, and seeing how Atreus may have surpassed him.”

Some others would like to see Japanese mythology come into play which would be a different direction entirely.
Either way, it will be exciting to see where the next entry will take us and hopefully we will find out soon.
