New God of War speculation has triggered several discussions about whether the franchise needs a prequel.
After the events of God of War Ragnarök, fans have been theorising where the next title will take them.
It’s left the fandom somewhat torn over the different mythologies Kratos could explore.

However, arguably the most polarising rumour about God of War 6 is that it’ll be a prequel.
Obviously, this is only a rumour shared by Game Rant, however, it’s one that has fans both excited and also concerned for the franchise.
On r/GodofWarRagnarok, SaturdayBoi said, “They should move forward with the story. Hopefully the prequel rumours are just flashback gameplay instances from when he visited Egypt before the Norse realms. They could definitely make that work.”
Now you can enjoy God of War Ragnarök on PC
Those who’ve been with the series since its first game will recall Kratos’ earlier days.

Having already met and gotten to know young Kratos, few believe there’s more to explore from this portion of his life.
“There's no reason to go backwards, we know everything about Kratos,” argued TieLow7912.
In a discussion on r/GodofWar, other pockets of the God of War community are intrigued by the prospect of seeing young Kratos again.
“I’d love to see Kratos in between how he was in Greek GoW vs Norse GoW. See raging Kratos find his stoic self. That would be fun. Easy way to continue with a Kratos story without continuing what’s already been tied up,” posted one fan.

User Visual-Beginning5492 said, “I’d quite like a spinoff prequel/ origin game where we play as human Kratos (as a young Spartan).
“Rising up the Spartan army ranks, fighting barbarians, meeting his wife, & being a ruthless warrior - before he meets the Greek Gods & becomes immortal.”
It goes without saying that we want more Kratos in our lives; the question is how he’ll return to us.
