EA just dropped a new patch for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor exclusively for PCs that is attempting to target “performance and quality of life improvements” for the game.
Back in April 2023 when the game first dropped, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor garnered generally positive reviews on most platforms (the key word here being “most”).
As per usual, it was the PC port of the game that suffered. Unlike the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X versions of the game, the Steam version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is currently sitting at “Mixed”.

The majority of the grievances specifically target the game’s poor performance on PC, with Eurogamer and Digital Foundry’s Alex Battaglia labelling it the “worst triple-A PC port of 2023” twice; once when the game initially released, and then a second time four months later (following several rounds of performance related patches).
Developer Respawn and publisher Electronic Arts are hoping to finally address these issues for good with the latest patch for the game, which is exclusively dropping on PC.
According to the patch notes, “Patch 9” focuses on “Framerate improvements for various hardware configurations” and “Fixes for several sources of framerate hitching for smoother gameplay”, alongside some much-needed optimisation for ray-tracing.
If the latest reviews on Steam are to be believed, it seems the issues might have finally been fixed.

Granted, it’s been well over a year since the game dropped but… better late than never, I guess?
“PATCH 9, now playable” noted user Siemka_Home on Steam, a few hours after the latest patch dropped.
“The best patch ever, cuz Denuvo DRM has been removed = stuttering, frame drops, freezing is remove… That says a lot about denuvo”
“After testing today's update, I feel comfortable recommending this game to Star Wars fans…” commented RoboEagle this morning.

“I am now able to get a smooth 60 fps (4K with DLSS and no RT) with only a few stutters in problem areas where before they were frequent.”
Hopefully, this does mean Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s issues are sorted for good, but it’s likely a little too late in the game to satiate those who bought the game at launch.
Patient gamers stay winning once again.
