When it comes to being supported by the ever-vibrant modding community, there are not as many franchises that have benefited more than Fallout.
The Fallout series began in 1997 as a humble RPG on PC, played from a trimetric perspective, unlike Fallout 3 in 2008 which evolved into a massive open world offering players the choice of first-person and third-person perspectives.

In recent months, the Fallout series has benefited from a huge boom, largely thanks to the popularity of the critically acclaimed live-action series on Amazon’s streaming platform, Prime Video. As such, not only have players been revisiting the likes of Fallout 3 and Fallout 4, but also the 90s classics.

As such, there has also been an increase in Fallout mods and with that in mind, a mod for the 1998 sequel, called Fallout 1.5: Resurrection set between the first two games, released in 2016 has been hailed as one of the best. Oh, and it’s free to download now via moddb.com created by DaemonCZ.
“Everyone is (re)playing Fallout and Fallout 2 these days. And there's a lot of mention of different mods and patches,” said Redditor lithermit, kicking off a discussion on the thread. “However, I haven't really noticed much mention of one specific gem which I enjoyed a great deal,” they said referring to Fallout 1.5: Resurrection.
“I played this game, and it was awesome. The story is dark, with an atmosphere reminiscent of the original Fallout, and you can make different choices with consequences,” replied atrian555.
“I really liked it and it has a great atmosphere. Almost the same quality as the original,” MlekarDANcz responded with Jr_Mao adding “Loved it, real strong story.”

At the time of writing, the first two original games in the Fallout series are exclusive to PC, but who knows, with the recent boom in popularity, perhaps publisher Bethesda might consider porting them to modern consoles one day.
