There are very few video game franchises that boast modding communities comparable to the likes of those belonging to Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, and this latest mod is a prime example of that support.
When it comes to mods, Bethesda is perhaps more mod-friendly than any other publisher. In fact, Bethesda even implements mods on consoles such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as well as the upcoming new-gen upgrade for Fallout 4 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. That being said, as good as Bethesda mods are on consoles nowadays, nothing quite compares to the versatility of the PC platform.

One such mod is ‘Obscurum IV - Statesec’ for Fallout 4 and it’s developed by ‘Thumblesteen’ which is so impressive that it feels like a whole new game. Oh, and it’s totally free to download now via Nexusmods. ‘Obscurum IV - Statesec’ is a total conversion mod which brings new story content, new areas, weapons, enemies, factions and much more. What’s more, after watching some of the gameplay for this mod, it gives me Escape from Tarkov vibes.

It also features a new health system which seemingly cranks up the survival elements of the wasteland that could result in you hallucinating (not in real life, probably) and untreated wounds could be fatal. It sounds like a lot of fun.
As with most mods, ‘Obscurum IV - Statesec’ is for PC only, sorry console gamers. However, you never know, perhaps this mod will be available once the free new-gen upgrade arrives later this year for Fallout 4 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Fallout 4 is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. What’s more, it’s also available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers at no extra cost. Fallout 4 is also included in the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers, for the time being.
