Most people might be gearing up for Starfield, but some Bethesda fans are still lost in the Wastelands of Fallout 4.
Let’s face it, while space is an alluring proposition, nothing says turbulent struggles like making your way across a broken, barren landscape filled with monsters and explosions. It’s the stuff that makes our dark hearts sing with joy.
Return to the beginning with the Fallout 4 launch trailer.
If you thought you’d seen and done everything, we hate to break it to you, but you’re wrong. Thanks to the Mysteries of the Commonwealth – Chapter One Luxi mod, there’s new quests to complete and a brand new companion to meet. I don’t know about you, but a new follower sounds fantastic to me, especially if there’s a hint of an opportunity to romance them, even if it’s only inside my own head.

This Fallout mod is centred around an extremely important quest, one which most people will agree is of the utmost importance: you need to find a lost kitten. Yes, Luxi the kitten is lost in the desolate landscape our character calls home, and it’s up to us, armed with a new companion, to find this fuzzy furball.
But before you head off in search of your new best friend – the cat, not the companion – do keep in mind that this mod is specifically aimed at players who are level 50 or higher. It’s meant to be challenging. That being said, if it’s pretty much impossible for you to complete, that’s confirmation enough that you’re too low a level. Furthermore, playing these new quests with either the ‘Deadlier Deathclaws’ or the ‘Super Mutants Redux’ mods will make this “considerably more difficult”.
Should rescuing kittens not be your cup of tea (what’s wrong with you, you heartless monsters?!), you could always embark on a far more terrifying adventure courtesy of Whispering Hills. Be warned, this is a full-blown horror experience, so if you almost pass out from a simple jumpscare, you’ll likely not make it through this one.
Though, as always, you could just revisit Fallout 4 from the beginning; it has been eight years, after all. And now that you can get the game without DRM on PC, the performance will be markedly improved. In truth, though, it doesn’t matter how you choose to journey through the Wastelands, whether it’s from new perspectives or by revisiting old haunts, all that matters is we continue to forget about Shaun.

You can find Fallout: Mysteries of the Commonwealth on NexusMods. Just don’t blame us if Luxi isn’t how you pictured it… Cats are mysterious creatures, unbound by the rules of natural order.
