It’s really not long to go until the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. For some fans, it sounds like it can’t come soon enough - after the first beta period, some expressed that they felt unable to return to Warzone after experiencing what the new title has to offer.
Just in case you weren’t hyped enough, it sounds like the game could also be getting some really exciting DLC at a later date. According to insider @TheGhostOfHope on Twitter, as well as a “greatest hits” map pack, players can apparently look forward to some whole new campaign DLC.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II releases on 28 October - take a look at some gameplay footage below.
In case you missed it, the leaker first spoke about the supposed map expansion earlier this month. They claimed that there are plans to release “all/almost all Modern Warfare 2 (2009) maps together all at once some time during the post launch”. They later added that the maps are supposedly meant to be released sometime during the game’s second year, along with “other classic maps from Infinity Ward, Treyarch [and] Sledgehammer's catalogue”.

Anyway, the leaker’s latest claim is bound to turn some heads: “Campaign DLC to be released in late 2023 bundled with map pack I leaked previously,” they wrote. Now, you might remember that back in February, it was claimed by Bloomberg that the Treyarch-developed Call of Duty title originally set for 2023 has been pushed back to the following year, which would make it the first time in almost 20 years that they’d be skipping a year. However, if @TheGhostOfHope’s claims are true, it sounds like players will at least be getting a new single-player campaign then anyway, thanks to the DLC.
At the time of writing though, none of this is officially confirmed, so take it with a generous pinch of salt for now.
