Minecraft continues to be the game that never fails to impress us and with what looks to be its biggest graphical upgrade ever, it’s going to look better than ever.
When you think back to 2011, Minecraft was simply a fun but promising indie game inspired by LEGO that encouraged player creativity, so it’s amazing to see the goliath it has become today.

According to Statista.com, between 2016 and 2023, Minecraft sold over 300 million units worldwide. No wonder Microsoft acquired its developer Mojang Studios and the rights to the game in September 2015 for a whopping $2.5 billion.

Over the years, Minecraft has been released on many platforms across multiple generations including PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and mobile devices. However, the platform in which Minecraft shines the most is where it all began on PC.
No matter how fun Minecraft is to play on all available platforms, if you’re a PC gamer, you can not only enjoy the talents of the modding community but also official updates that give the game massive visual overhauls.
As reported by WindowsCentral.com, during a ‘Minecraft Live’ video on the game's official YouTube channel, it’s been announced that a ‘Vibrant Visuals’ update is coming and Mojang Studios teased that this is just the beginning of substantial new content support.
The upcoming update will not only improve the textures of the in-game building blocks but also lighting, shadows, reflections, fog and more.
Interestingly, while it might be safe to assume this update is a PC exclusive, Mojang Studios also teased that this update is coming to Minecraft: Bedrock Edition “on a broad range of devices”. Whether this means that the console and mobile version of Minecraft is also getting a huge visual upgrade, remains to be seen. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that this update will be multi-platform.

The ‘Vibrant Visuals’ upgrade will be backwards compatible with previous versions of Minecraft with an option to toggle it on and off in the settings.
Due to the backwards-compatible nature of this update, it should also mean that no one will lose their worlds and some might be pleased to know that the update will run on local servers and not exclusively online.
There’s no release date for the ‘Vibrant Visuals’ upgrade at the time of writing but hopefully, it will arrive at some point this year. We’ll keep you posted when that information drops.
