One of the things I love about this industry is discovering new games. Until this morning I didn’t know this game existed and now I must have it in my life. It’s bringing vibes from so many different areas in gaming and they seem to be coming together to bring us a stunning RPG.
Eternal Strands is an upcoming title being created by former team members who brought us Assassin’s Creed and Mass Effect, and while you can see a ceratin flavour from those, there’s also a dash of Shadow of the Colossus in there, and a little taste of Immortals: Fenyx Rising, too.
Immortals: Fenyx Rising is an wonderful, underrated gem filled with brilliant mythology
According to the game’s Steam page, players will be fighting “Epic, towering creatures while blending magical abilities with an arsenal of powerful weapons to keep the world from crumbling in this third-person, action-adventure game.” And that very much sounds like a winning combination, to me.

When playing, we’ll not only be able to climb the creatures and take them down with melee combat, but we’ll utilise elemental magic to counter smaller enemies or overcome environmental puzzles, like climbing sheer surfaces or bridging gaps. World exploration will be a top priority and you can use these magical powers to “Enhance the effectiveness of your ice abilities during a flash freeze to open up new paths. Use a heatwave to start a wildfire and watch it spread towards enemies as it consumes the tinder-dry trees and grass around it.”
I’ve already added Eternal Strands to my wishlist as it has a gorgeous style to it that has me captivated. It’s a subtle blend of cartoon colours with stylised character development that makes each scene in the trailer pop. I want to be able to climb beasts to hit weak spots, or fall back and launch chunks of the landscape at them with magical powers. Let’s hop we get a launch date very soon.
