Rumours and fancasts surrounding the upcoming Harry Potter HBO reboot are still in full swing and this time, attention has turned to none other than Remus Lupin himself.
So far, the upcoming Harry Potter reboot, which will see the much-loved book and movie series turned into a multiple-season television show, has only revealed a handful of cast members so far.
Go back to where it all began with the trailer for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone below!
Best known for his roles in Gangs of London and I May Destroy You, British actor Paapa Essiedu will be taking on the role of Severus Snape and of course, will be taking over from the late Alan Rickman.

In the role of Dumbledore, it's believed that John Lithgow will be joining the cast.
Other than that, the Harry Potter showrunners are keeping the cast list close to their chests, despite the various rumours.
Now it seems as though fans have their own actor in mind to take on the role of one quarter of the Marauders, Remus Lupin.
Introduced in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Lupin quickly became a fan-favourite character and was portrayed in the movie series by David Thewlis.

Now according to a recent conversation over on r/HarryPotteronHBO, Dev Patel would make the perfect Lupin in the reboot.
Racking up almost 200 comments in support, it seems as though the actor, who is best known for Slumdog Millionaire and more recently, Monkey Man, would make the perfect replacement.
User CassKent said, “I quite like him, he'd be a great Remus! He also would have been a great Snape (though that's cast). I actually think he could pull off Sirius (if they were filming today and not in a few years).”
Another user added, “Would looovveeee this!! He gives such gentle wolf vibes, so humble. I can already picture him in all those worn-out second-hand suits/robes with a mischievous smile.”

For user DALTT, it would be a dream come true.
“Yes. He’s been my top choice for Lupin FOREVER. I would love to see this happen,” they revealed.
Of course, Patel is merely a fancast for now but who knows?
Hopefully we find out soon ahead of the Harry Potter reboot beginning filming this summer.
