It’ll come as a surprise to no one that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a very poignant film. Chadwick Boseman, best known for his incredible portrayal of T’Challa, sadly passed away in 2020 following a battle with colon cancer. It was decided that production would resume on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever but to honour Boseman, the role of T’Challa would not be recast.
Instead, the film sees the residents of Wakanda mourning the loss of their leader. According to critics, Wakanda Forever is a worthy tribute to Boseman with many hailing it as the best MCU film in years. Some are even suggesting that Angela Bassett could be the first MCU actor to contend for an Academy Award nomination. Fans are reporting though that they’re being reduced to tears by the film’s opening logo.

As I’m sure Marvel fans are aware, every MCU project begins with the iconic Marvel Studios logo which features clips of a variety of characters and films. For Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Marvel honoured Boseman by exclusively using clips of T’Challa. A shortened version of the logo was debuted on Boseman’s birthday in 2020, but this marks the first time the logo has been used in full. Take a look at the original version below.

The latest version debuted in Wakanda Forever removes the typical Marvel trumpet fanfare though, replacing it with a moment of silence. As reported by IGN, fans shared just how poignant the moment was on Twitter. User Richard Newby wrote, “Folks always talk about the memorable theatre moments in these Marvel movies where people clap and cheer. But there were two bookends of absolute, respectful, beautiful silence during this movie that will always define my memory of seeing this for the first time.”
Blurayangel added, “My entire theatre was completely silent during the opening Marvel Studios logo of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. So powerful.” Safe to say, Boseman’s legacy will continue to live on.
