The release of The Last of Us Part I is now less than a month away and fans are still split on Naughty Dog’s new-gen remake. The debate over the game’s updated graphics rages on yet amidst that chaos, one fan has spotted a brand new detail linking The Last of Us to one of The Last of Us Part II’s very best scenes.
Speaking of The Last of Us Part I, check out this gameplay deep dive below which explains all of the remake’s new-gen features.
Reddit user objective-note-9042 took to the site after they noticed a detail in Sarah’s bedroom during The Last of Us’ opening scene. During their playthrough, the user spotted a space poster on Sarah’s wall. Well, we all know that Ellie is obsessed with space and wanted to be an astronaut which is why Joel takes her on a surprise trip to an old space museum exhibition in Part II.

Sarah has a planetary space picture on her wall in her room at the start of Part I which is why Joel was so excited to take Ellie to the planetary space area of the museum in Part II for that very special moment [..] The realisation that Sarah was into space and sci-fi too and that’s why Joel admired Ellie being into the same, this clicked and I started crying. Such a neat way something from the second game elaborates on such a teenee tiny detail in the first.”
It’s no surprise that Ellie eventually fills a hole in Joel left by Sarah's death but this detail just adds another layer of significance to the museum scene in Part II. As if I needed another reason to cry while playing this game.
