Sony has just dropped a free update for The Last of Us Part II Remastered, and it’s definitely a bit of a mixed bag in regards to what fans were hoping for.
Thank you in advance to Dark Side of Gaming's John Papadopoulos for their write-up on the latest patch!
So, The Last of Us Part II Remastered finally dropped on PC at the start of the month… and, as to be expected with Sony ports, it has its fair share of technical issues.

However, the developers behind the PC port, Nixxes Software, dropped a new update over the weekend to help tackle some of these issues. It seems they’ve got their work cut out for them though, as there are still quite a few technical problems they’ve yet to iron out.
As the patch notes state, there are two big issues that patch 1.1 has fixed: “Performance improvements to address long stalls that could occur in Downtown Seattle” and “Fixed a crash that could occur when using Steam Input”.
The latter issue seems to have been resolved entirely, but, as Dark Side of Gaming’s John Papadopoulos states, there’s still a long way to go as far as “performance improvements” are concerned.
“Update 1.1 has performance improvements to address long stalls that could occur in Downtown Seattle. However, it does not improve performance in Jackson City,” Papadopoulos writes.

“I’ve tried that area on our AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D with an NVIDIA RTX 5090, and I didn’t see any performance improvements. So, don’t expect any performance miracles from this first update.”
Jackson City is one of the main areas where the PC port of The Last of Us Part II Remastered seems to suffer the most, so it sounds like Nixxes are planning to tackle that issue in a later update - assumedly because it was too difficult to fix it in a speedy manner this time around.
Keep an eye out for some more patches down the line, because hopefully the next one will bring the game’s performance to be more in line with the PS5 version of the game.
