In case you missed it, it was recently revealed that the distributor of the John Wick movies, Lionsgate, is currently “fielding proposals” for a potential AAA John Wick game. I’m sure I speak for everyone here when I say that it’s about time.
Lionsgate's CEO, Jon Feltheimer, said: “We certainly are interested in moving that forward, but I don’t want to say anything more about that at this time.” So, it’s not exactly nailed down and definitely happening, but fingers crossed that sometime soon it could become reality. Look, John Wick Hex was cool, but it wasn’t really the big fancy action-adventure title that I think most of us would have really liked.
While you’re here, take a look at the trailer for John Wick 4 below.
Anyway, regardless of if your mind is already flooding with ideas for what this new game might look like or you’re simply overwhelmed with the possibilities, YouTube creator TeaserPlay has a treat for you. Using Unreal Engine 5, they’ve created a concept trailer for an open world John Wick action game, and it looks fantastic. They used ray tracing, Lumen and Nanite, and utilised screen space reflection to make everything pop - they also put MetaHuman to use to make Keanu Reeves look breathtaking. Take a look below.
Meanwhile in the world of cinema, it’s only a few more months to go until the release of John Wick 4. The movie has faced some chunky delays, but it’ll finally be upon us on 24 March next year. Okay, yeah, that’s still quite a wait.
Advert
The screenwriter for the first three John Wick movies, Derek Kolstad, has confirmed that he’s not involved with Chapter 4 or the future fifth instalment, so it’ll be interesting to see how it holds up without him. Last year, he said: "I don't know what's going to happen, but I'm excited to see."
