House Of The Dead: Remake is coming to PlayStation 5

House Of The Dead: Remake is coming to PlayStation 5

Last year's House of the Dead: Remake is due to release on the PlayStation 5 this week.

The House of the Dead: Remake is officially heading to PlayStation 5, but that’s not the best part. PS5 users won’t have to wait long to get their hands on this classic because the game will release this week. We all need a January treat.

If you’re under the age of 27, you may not remember Sega AM1’s The House of the Dead. Released all the way back in 1996, The House of the Dead is a zombie-themed arcade shooter, originally released in arcades and then later ported to the SEGA Saturn and Microsoft Windows. Last year, the long-awaited remake was finally released on PlayStation 4, Switch, PC, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series X/S - but the PS5 was notably left off the release line-up. Well PS5 fans, your time is finally here.

Check out a Horde mode playthrough for The House of the Dead: Remake below.

The House of the Dead: Remake will release on PlayStation 5 on Friday 20 January. As reported by Eurogamer, the remake promises “adjusted” graphics, updated audio and controls, a brand new Horde mode that increases on-screen enemy count, a photo mode, gallery, leaderboards, plus trophy achievements. Sounds pretty fun, if you ask me.

If you’re unaware of the concept, it’s relatively simple. Players simply shoot and eliminate zombie hordes spawned by geneticist Dr. Curien’s disastrous experiments. If you already own the PlayStation 4 version of the game, the PS5 upgrade is completely free. If you’re yet to grab the title, the PS4 version is currently on offer on the PS Store for £9.99 until 18 January. You’ll then be eligible for the free upgrade on Friday.

We reviewed the Nintendo Switch version of the remake. Admittedly, it didn’t blow us away but GAMINGbible’s Mike wrote, “Arcade-goers of the late 1990s who want a gory little slice of exhumed nostalgia might feel satisfied enough with what’s on show. Remake offers plenty to chew on.” Just be wary of its slight performance issues.
