Some PlayStation 5 gamers have just realised that their voices will be heard whether they like it or not unless they change this setting.
If you’re anything like me, you’re a loud gamer. Most of the time, it doesn't matter if I’m winning or losing a game of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 or EA Sports FC 25, I will shout and swear a fair bit.
Check out the Alien: Isolation trailer below!
My loud potty mouth particularly conspired against me when playing Alien: Isolation (which is getting a sequel by the way). Unless you switch the setting off, the Xenomorph alien will be alerted to your location if you make a loud vocal noise courtesy of the built-in mic in the DualSense controller.

You may or may not already know this but just in case you don’t, as brought to our attention by the YouTube channel PlayStationGrenade, the built-in DualSense mic is on by default. So without you knowing, the Fortnite or Call of Duty lobby could be hearing your loud rants.
The quickest way to turn off the built-in mic is to press the button underneath the PS logo. When this button is pressed and has turned orange, it means the mic is off, but that is only a temporary solution and it will be back on the next time you fire up the PlayStation 5.
You can also turn the mic off by pressing the PS button, selecting ‘Mic’ and then ‘Mute’ or go into ‘Settings’, select ‘Sound’ then ‘Microphone’ and then switch to ‘Mute’ to ensure that your mic is off by default.
“The mute tip is huge for the controller. I have the DuelSense Edge, which also turns the mic back on when I connect it,” replied ericgonser1544.

“Thank you for letting me know about the default mic,” said OkJustBarely.
One feature that I did not know of until PlayStationGrenade mentioned it in its video is that if you hold down the button beneath the PS logo on the DualSense controller, it will mute everything, including the speaker and TV.
Thank you, PlayStationGrenade.
