Although this is disappointing news for those yet to purchase the PlayStation 5, there are two sources of good news.
First is that the PlayStation 5 Pro will not undergo any price increases, which means that it will now be cheaper to upgrade if you wish to buy the disc drive version.
Additionally, it has now been revealed that Sony will be decreasing the price of its Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive which is another win for enjoyers of physical media.

The optional accessory will now cost £69.99 / €79.99 / AUD $124.95 / NZD $139.95, making it a £30 decrease for those in the U.K. which is quite substantial.
The cost of living crisis is affecting us all so it is nice for Sony to finally realise this and try and help out, even if it is just with an optional accessory.
However, these price increases are making some PlayStation fans fear for the future when it comes to the arrival of the PlayStation 6.
