Poor Aloy, she just can’t catch a break. The Horizon series always seems to face some stiff competition, whether that’s on its initial release or whenever it makes the jump from PlayStation to PC.
When Horizon Zero Dawn was first released the game had to face off against The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which was an unfair fight, some might say. Who could compete against Zelda and Link? While the competition was there, Horizon Zero Dawn still sold millions of copies, but as the PC release of Horizon Forbidden West gets closer, the game will have to duke it out again.
Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition is coming to PC very soon
Horizon Forbidden West will be dropping onto PC on 21 March and this time it will be competing against Dragon’s Dogma 2 which comes out the following day on 22 March. Not only that, but a month later, when fans might have had in mind to play Aloy’s latest adventure, Elden Ring’s DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, will release and take the world by storm. Oddly enough, when Forbidden West first appeared on PlayStation it had to compete with Elden Ring, so perhaps Aloy is used to it now.
Advert
“I don’t really play Horizon, but damn does somebody over at Sony really hate that series.” says a Redditor in an ongoing conversation about how this keeps happening. “I think it can be considered a kink at this point” says another commenter, and perhaps it’s someone at Sony who just likes to screw over their own franchises at this point.
To be fair, players are likely to buy both, however they could end up waiting for a sale on one of the other. The issue is only apparent as, nowadays, we seem to get banger after banger every other week, so no matter what date is chosen, it’s going to have to compete with something great.
