For those willing to pay the price for early access, Hogwarts Legacy is out now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, and it’s been going down very well with fans and reviewers alike.
It goes without saying that the Wizarding World RPG continues to be a very controversial title. Many gamers have stated that they’ll be boycotting it due to its association with J.K. Rowling and her harmful comments regarding the transgender community. Actor Sebastian Croft, who starred in Netflix’s LGBTQ+ drama Heartstopper, previously apologised to anyone hurt by his involvement with the game.

Now that the title is out in the wild, gamers who’ve got their hands on it have been exploring its extensive character creator, and they’ve been having a lot of fun with it. On Reddit, many have been sharing the witches and wizards they’ll be playing as, from the magical pop star “Taylor Swifthorn” to the Wizarding World version of Stephen Strange.

Meanwhile, others are praising the amount of hairstyle options available for Black gamers, with one player noting that the attention to detail is “arguably unheard of”.
“I am so content with the authenticity of Black character customisation options,” lawson18_ wrote. “Anyone who has ever played an RPG knows that it is quite typical for them to lack all but the three most stereotypical Black hairstyles: cornrows, Afro, lineup. Not only did Hogwarts Legacy provide a variety of different hair styles, but they also put a level of detail into the textures that is arguably unheard of. A huge win for Black gamers, and a huge win for representation in gaming.”
“I'm so happy bruh. I feel hella represented,” replied Heauxie24. “The customisation is very inclusive. I was shocked to see some actual curly hair on characters in the gameplay footage. Made me feel like I might actually be able to make a character that resembles me,” added OhJeezer.
