The weather has taken a cool turn which can only mean one thing. It’s cosy game season, and I have just the recommendation if you’re a fan of both Hogwarts Legacy and Stardew Valley.
There’s nothing quite like the feeling of playing a cosy game in autumn or winter. You cuddle up with a blanket and a cup of tea, sit down to your console or PC, and pull open an enchanting indie delight to lose yourself in for a couple of hours. Witchbrook could be that game for you. Created by Chucklefish, Witchbrook is an upcoming social RPG and oh my, I need this game in my life as soon as possible. The vibes? Impeccable.
Enjoy a tour of Hogwarts' four house common rooms below.
Witchbrook is pretty much what it sounds like. You embark on your own ‘magical coming-of-age adventure’ at Witchbrook College as the school’s newest student. The synopsis reads, “Embrace your magical roots by stepping into your ancestor’s role of resident witch to the bustling seaside town of Mossport. Jump on your broom and immerse yourself in a world full of wonder and charm, discovering long lost secrets, spells and spirits! Make friends, find love, and help others to live their dreams as you travel together on the road to graduation and beyond.”

You’ll be tasked with completing assignments, brewing positions, competing in broom races, foraging for botanical ingredients … Hm, some of those tasks sound familiar (Yes, enormous Hogwarts Legacy energy). Alongside your studies, you’ll be able to renovate your own woodland cottage with a surrounding garden.
There will be seasonal events and postgraduate tasks - including hand-delivering requested goods via broom (Did someone say Kiki’s Delivery Service?). Unfortunately, Witchbrook doesn’t have a release date just yet. We know it’s coming to Steam but the official FAQ says other platforms remain unconfirmed for now. The same page also mentions the possible addition of crossplay, suggesting that there will indeed be several platform versions on offer.
Yes, Witchbrook is also multiplayer. It’s suspected that the title will launch in 2024. Chucklefish previously released the excellent Wildfrost and Eastward.
