With Hogwarts Legacy missing out as a highlight of 2023’s gaming catalogue, it is again left to modders to help make this game what it could have been.
Released back in February of this year, Hogwarts Legacy has not had the best time of it. From being released surrounded by controversy relating to the Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, to quickly dropping off the face of the planet within a month of its launch, the RPG still somehow managed to become 2023’s most popular game according to Google.

However, with many fans admitting Hogwarts Legacy feels “criminally empty” and only a reported 26% of players having finished the main campaign, it is perhaps no surprise that the Warner Bros. game got snubbed at the 2023 Game Awards.

In an attempt to bring some life back to the game, modders have been working hard on bringing new and exciting content to Hogwarts Legacy. One modder, Arbek1130, has worked out a way to introduce the magical world of Elden Ring to Hogwarts.
The mod titled ‘Sword of Night and Flame’ found on Nexus Mods allows you to wield the sword itself during your escapades in Hogwarts and the surrounding areas. Once downloaded, the sword will be able to act as a wand handle so you can equip it to your favourite wand.
This is just one of many mods created for Hogwarts Legacy with the most popular including one that skips over the Alohomora minigame, thousands of cosmetic changes and a schedule enhancer to make students and professors follow a much more realistic timetable.
In other Hogwarts Legacy news, the game recently received a much-needed free download that introduced some quality-of-life changes as well as improved loading times in and out of buildings. In other news, Ubisoft will be trying its hand at the magical RPG genre with leaks it is working on a Hogwarts Legacy-style RPG. Watch this space!
