Hogwarts Legacy fans hoping for something new to look forward to in 2025 have been on something of an emotional rollercoaster.
There were plenty of rumours flying around that suggested the Harry Potter RPG would be getting some kind of major DLC this year, but the most recent reports say that expansion has been cancelled.
Fortunately, Hogwarts Legacy is getting a new release of sorts, and it left me pleasantly surprised.

During a recent hands-on event for the Nintendo Switch 2, I was able to get my hands on a bunch of games coming to the console at launch and beyond.
I got to check out the new Mario Kart, played a bit of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and even saw Cyberpunk 2077 in action.
Seeing games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy running on the new Nintendo console is a testament to the fact the Switch 2 already has third-party support locked in hard - an unthinkable concept for the Nintendo of the Wii U era.
I was able to check out a bit of Hogwarts Legacy on the Switch 2, and I can confirm it runs like a dream.

The Nintendo Switch version of the game - which is no small miracle itself, I admit - was far from the optimal way to play the Harry Potter RPG, But the Switch 2 version is much, much closer to the higher quality PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game. It looks great, runs smoothly, and will no doubt become the definitive way to play Hogwarts Legacy for gamers who want to take their magic on the go.
We might not be getting a new Hogwarts Legacy expansion in 2025, then, but we are getting a whole new way to play the game - and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the experience.
