The weekend is fast approaching and despite there being plenty of AAA games on the horizon this month and beyond, there is still time to sit down and relax with some underrated bangers.
Luckily, Steam has made that easier than ever by adding another batch of free games to its PC storefront in an effort to get players to try before they buy.
So if you are on the lookout for a new roguelike, horror title, or another simulator game which you can waste the hours with, there is bound to be something on this list for you.

So without further ado, let’s take a look at some exciting looking titles.
First up is Abyssus, a fast-paced cooperative FPS and roguelite adventure where you must “muster your fireteam, blast through the corrupted denizens of an ancient, sunken civilization, and wield godly powers”.
Obtain divine blessings to upgrade your arsenal and battle for survival as the abyss will do whatever it takes to claim your life before you reach the surface again.
Next is a tower-defence strategy title set in a post-apocalyptic world and featuring a beautiful pixel art style.

It is The Ember Guardian: First Flames and you will be in charge of recruiting and commanding workers, gathering resources, building camps and setting up your defences during the day.

However, when night falls, you will need to defend your home from waves of deadly creatures with your wide arsenal of upgradable weapons.
Fans of Unpacking and cosy games in general will love My Time Room, a casual puzzle game which tasks you with placing furniture in small spaces.

Decorate your room how you wish but make sure to keep it clutter-free in order to create a peaceful retreat.
P.s, there will be a cat friend to keep you company.
From cosy homes to high-speed racing as Cosmic Race will see you take part in chaotic arcade-style races as you battle rivals using unique abilities and power-ups.
You can drift, boost and unleash chaos as you race around a series of tracks in intense LAN multiplayer matches.

Now it’s time for the roguelike/hack-n’-slash/dungeon crawler title that I have my eye on: Neverwards.
Choose one of four classes and master their spells as you enter a world where darkness consumes all.
As you explore Nevafall, you will need to collect loot in order to become stronger but will you be strong enough to defeat the evil that has risen to threaten the land?
With no two journeys across frozen wastelands, ancient jungles, and burning deserts the same, this fully randomised world will keep you on your toes.

If you are a horror fan, then you should check out AM.
In this high-speed horror game, you will race to leave the nightmares that are chasing you in the rearview mirror as you buckle up and put your foot on the gas.
As you navigate darkness-filled rural roads, you will need to keep control of the car whilst also battling the monstrous creatures that are trying to do everything it takes to make you stop.
With just a flashlight to defend yourself, you had better hope your driving skills will be enough to help you survive.
If you’re on the lookout for a city builder then All Will Fall will definitely be up your street.
In this post-apocalyptic city builder, every building is at constant risk of falling down so it will be up to you to master a physics-based 3D construction system in order to create a sprawling settlement on the very water.
When you are not building, you will have to scavenge for supplies on both the land and at sea, and ensure the survival of your colony in a land ravaged by the threat to humanity. Even if that means making some difficult decisions.
Imagine the end of the world was coming and all you could do to escape is run.
Well, that is the case in Haste, a fast-paced action game where you will need to run, jump, and master your landings as you race to flee as the universe collapses around you.
Master your movement and abilities and make it through each level before it’s too late. With challenges and characters throughout your journey, you will learn the cause of the destruction and better yet, how to escape it.

If you like the chaos of a bullet hell title, then you will love Oath of the Necromancer which combines roguelite elements with an arcade aesthetic.
With the enemies descending in their thousands, you will need to raise the bones of the dead and fight back.
Use strategy to build your undead army and turn them into a powerful force capable of slaying the countless hordes of enemies that constantly descend upon you.
“Rebuild a lost religion, raise legendary heroes, find mighty relics, and raise powerful armies of the dead.”
Last but by no means least is Crime Simulator which, as you can expect, allows you to take on the role of a master criminal either alone or with up to three friends.
You may be out of jail but you still have debt to clear so you will need to master lockpicking and sleeping gas in order to break into people’s houses and make enough money to bail yourself out.
Will you have what it takes to make back that money or will you just find yourself back in jail before the end of the night?
