For Star Wars Celebration 2025, I was given an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at an upcoming Star Wars game, Star Wars Beyond Victory.
Created for the Meta Quest 3, Star Wars Beyond Victory puts players back behind the wheel of a pod racer for some high-octane racing

As a fan of Star Wars: Episode 1 Pod-Racer I was eager to see how this new Meta Quest title held up, and I was delightfully surprised.

My brief time with the game took me through the opening of the game’s story, which sees renowned pod-racer Selbulba arrive to give the player an opportunity that simply cannot be turned down.
I was then thrown into my first race and despite not passing the finish time first I still had fun, especially as I was a hair’s breadth away from victory.
Now Star Wars Beyond Victory isn’t like previous Meta Quest Star Wars games from ILMxLAB, like Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge.

This title doesn’t give you a first-person perspective while racing, something I was a tad disappointed about to be perfectly honest.
That said I know why this is the case as I’d imagine the motion sickness would be off the charts if you could, still the option would have been nice.
The gameplay itself though was fun, engaging, and most important of all chaotic. My memories from the pod-racer games include that steep learning curve where you’re not just learning how to maintain speed, but maintain speed without crashing at the same time.
Star Wars Beyond Victory replicates this well, as while the 3D visuals have you feeling closer to the action than ever before, there are still plenty of obstacles and pathways you won’t see coming in advance.

I did enjoy what I played of Star Wars Beyond Victory, and I hope to play it again someday will all the other planned content available.
Those attending Star Wars Celebration between 18 and 20 of April will be able to try the new title for free on the convention floor, but the full release is yet to receive a launch date.
