At the time of writing, over 300,000 witches and wizards are strolling the halls of Hogwarts Legacy, showing what an immense success the game is for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
This is, of course, riding above the continual criticism Hogwarts Legacy has endured for its affiliation with Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling's transphobic opinions. Rowling herself has stated that she sees purchases of her intellectual properties to be supportive of her comments and fans have taken a few different tacks to express their displeasure over the game. It's clearly one of the most controversial games to ever be made, yet, a lot of other people are enjoying their time with the RPG.

Those who are playing on Steam have opted for the Deluxe, Digital Deluxe or Collector's Edition, which offers players 72 hours of early access and DLC like the Onyx Hippogriff Mount, Thestral Mount, Dark Arts Cosmetic Pack and Dark Arts Battle Arena. And, per SteamDB, they can't get enough of Hogwarts Legacy, with an all time player count peak of 489,139 on PC alone. There are over 300,000 in the game right now which is impressive too, as it is lunchtime on a weekday at the time I'm typing this. The general global shift to remote work has done wonders.

The game is also out for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles so the true number of players will be staggering. "This is probably GOTY material," said one on the Hogwarts Legacy subreddit. "So far only few hours, going to work for 10 hours everyday, but every time I [can't] wait when I turn it on again! Such a joy to play."
