The end is nigh for the Guardians of the Galaxy as they embark on their farewell tour with the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 next week.
After two standalone movies, and team-ups with The Avengers and Thor, the intergalactic team of outlaws that we all know and love will seemingly be going their separate ways. This news comes straight from the mouth of director James Gunn, who confirmed in an interview, "This is the end for us, the last time people will see this team of Guardians."
Take a look at the latest trailer for the film below.
When discussing the story of the latest film, Gunn confirms that it is indeed the finale of the group as we know it, saying, "It's big; it's so, so big and dark, and different from what people might be expecting it to be. I just want to be true to the characters, the story and give people the wrap-up that they deserve for the story. That's always a little bit scary; I'm doing my best."

Gunn himself will also be wrapping up his work at Marvel, as he’s now in charge of DC and their cinematic universe, recently announcing some of the new projects DC fans can expect to see in the future. Luckily, while this will be the end for the Guardians as we know them, the team will reportedly live on through a new roster of characters, possibly led by Adam Warlock, who’ll be making his MCU debut in Vol. 3 played by Will Poulter.
Fans who follow the comic storylines will know the members of the Guardians tend to vary from story to story, which means Marvel could absolutely bring the team back for future Marvel projects, and introduce some brand new characters that we won’t have seen in the MCU up to now. The future seems bleak for the current roster, and we can’t wait to see what happens when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 blasts into cinemas on 5 May.
