It’s an exciting morning for Grand Theft Auto fans. Grand Theft Auto VI may not be in our hands just yet, nor do we have a trailer, but Rockstar Games have once again acknowledged the game’s existence - dropping a major hint as to when we can expect the highly-anticipated title to release.
It’s been over one year since Rockstar first officially confirmed the existence of GTA VI. Of course, many then got their first unexpected glimpse of the game in last year’s major September leak after Rockstar was subject to a cyber attack. The one question GTA fans always have though is: When is GTA VI going to be released? Well, according to an answer given by Rockstar at their latest earnings call, GTA VI could release in 2024.
GTA VI is rumoured to be set in Vice City. This incredible mod may give us an idea of what to expect.
The publisher has said that they’re predicting big results from the 2025 and 2026 fiscal years. While 2025 may sound like a while off, the 2025 fiscal year actually begins in April 2024, so the release of GTA VI may be closer than it sounds. Now, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz, we also know that GTA VI is reportedly ready to run on PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X Pro consoles should they arise between now and the game’s planned release.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick (Take-Two is the parent company of Rockstar) was asked whether he expects to see another round of hardware released before the console generation is over. He replied that it would “probably” be the case, but said that it would likely “not affect the business very much”. After all, if it’s anything like previous Pro editions, they run regular base console games.
Rumours of a PS5 Pro have been circulating for several years. Back in March, insiders claimed that the console would release in 2024. We’re also expecting the redesigned base console featuring a detachable disc drive - which is also a rumour just for now. Perhaps next week’s PlayStation Showcase will shed more light on this.
