GTA VI leakers believe the game’s story mode will be shorter than we’d think, though take it with a pinch of salt.
We’ve still got a long wait ahead of us until we can finally revisit Vice City in GTA VI, which means we’ve got several months of speculation to endure as well.
Check out the first trailer for GTA VI below.
While it’s a guarantee that the game’s open world will be the biggest Rockstar Games has made yet, potentially twice the size of Red Dead Redemption 2 if we’re lucky, it’s the length of the story mode that’s got some fans wondering.

According to a leaker by the name of Legacy Killa HD on YouTube, it’ll take players roughly 35-40 hours to complete the main story, not including any side activities or time spent tearing through the map causing trouble.
For comparison, GTA V’s story takes around 32 hours to finish according to HowLongToBeat, whereas Red Dead Redemption 2 takes around 50 hours.
Now to be fair, Red Dead Redemption 2’s world takes a lot more time to traverse due to the main mode of transport being horses, so it somewhat makes sense for GTA VI to take less time since you can drive and fly.
Of course it’s all speculation too, as Rockstar Games hasn’t confirmed any details regarding the game’s story, apart from it's main characters Lucia and Jason who appeared in the game's first trailer.

On the off-chance Legacy Killa HD is correct though, I don’t think many players are going to grumble at a 35-40 hour story mode, especially since we’ll absolutely be getting side-tracked at regular intervals.
Hopefully we’ll know more as we creep closer to GTA VI’s release, which is looking like sometime in 2025 for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 provided there are no delays.
