That is why when it was first reported that the title would be coming to the Quest VR headset, fans were overjoyed. However, with no update since it was first announced back in 2021, they were starting to lose hope.

That is until now as Meta has reportedly confirmed that its developers are still “working” on VR port but it cannot announce a release date yet.

According to a GTA news account, development was confirmed in the comments of a Youtube video. It said: Meta confirmed in a YouTube comment that GTA San Andreas for VR on Meta Quest is still in development, with no release date yet. Originally revealed at Facebook Connect 2021, this VR game has been many years in the making, according to Mark Zuckerberg.”

GTA San Andreas will mark the second time a Rockstar Games title has been brought to the VR following 2018's LA Noire: The VR Case Files.

Although bringing the title to VR could be a success, it could also come with a few problems that some fans are worried about.

“How is San Andreas VR gonna work though?” One asked. “Game is old as s**t and I have a feeling they need to rebuild a lot of stuff from the ground up.”

It remains to be seen how the project will run but with no release date in sight, it may be a while before we find out.
