A new tidal wave of unofficial GTA VI news is upon us. In case you missed it, last week, a new report from Bloomberg got published, which brought with it a slew of (unconfirmed) information about the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game, and there were some big surprises, to say the least.
As well as starring a female protagonist, the game will reportedly take place in Vice City, and is code named Project Americanas. Now, as reported by Axios’ Stephen Totilo, we may know the reason why it’s been called that.
Curious what GTA VI could end up looking like? Look no further than the video below.
One of Axios Gaming’s sources apparently claim that GTA VI has actually been scaled down from Rockstar’s original plans, which included four protagonists and three different cities. The report from Bloomberg last week wrote that there’d be two protagonists (including the female lead), so if Axios’ claims are true, it seems that the playable cast has been halved.

Bloomberg’s original report also said that the game would include more interior locations than GTA V (which, let's face it, is already really chunky), and if that’s from one city alone, it’s little wonder that Rockstar decided to slim things down. That said, there are reportedly plans to add more cities to the game as post-launch content, so perhaps that’s what’s going to happen to the other two scrapped ones?
Overall, this can probably only be a good thing for the state of the game - last month, insiders claimed that Rockstar had scrapped plans for remakes of Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV, as well as new-gen ports of Red Dead Redemption 2 so that more focus could be put on the upcoming GTA title, so if it’s all to be believed, the studio are really giving it everything they’ve got to meet fans’ lofty expectations. Once again though, until any of this is officially confirmed, take it with a pinch of salt.
