If only Grand Theft Auto VI would pull a Ghost of Yōtei and drop its release date out of nowhere via a random tweet.
Yes, that is exactly what happened last week.
We now know that Ghost of Yōtei is scheduled to be released on 2 October of this year.

Rockstar Games’ GTA VI though remains without a release date and I don’t think we should expect to receive one soon.
Take-Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick has already stated that more won’t be unveiled about the game until much closer to its fall launch.
As such, many fans are worried that the game may have been internally delayed with some expecting that delay to be announced at next month’s Take-Two earnings call.
Personally, I don’t think there’s anything to worry about - and there is evidence to support this.

For now, you’re stuck with GTA VI’s one and only trailer.
As pointed out by Reddit user Former-Standard5930, the year ‘2025’ has recently been added to GTA VI’s listing on YouTube, seemingly reaffirming that it’s set to launch this year.
That being said, I’m not certain that YouTube would have inside info; it’s far more likely that the site is just going off information already publicly announced by Rockstar.

Beyond this though, we can narrow the game’s release down a bit further with facts that are a tad more concrete.
GTA VI is expected in fall, so we’re talking from September to November.
Take-Two is releasing Borderlands 4 on 23 September, with NBA 2K26 dropping that same month.
Fair to say then that GTA VI is probably looking at an October or November launch.

I’d hazard a guess that Sony may know when the game is launching as I don’t think they’d want the year’s big first-party title, Ghost of Yōtei, to clash.
With that in mind, GTA VI probably isn’t launching in early October either.
That’s about where the deduction ends. I’m afraid that for now, we’re going to have to remain patient.
