Unless you’ve been living under a rock (not Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson), then the chances are that you would have heard of a little upcoming game called GTA VI.
Following years of rumours and endless months of early build gameplay leaks, Rockstar Games finally revealed the next instalment of its Grand Theft Auto series with the debut trailer for GTA VI and it did not disappoint. Fans are super-hyped for the arrival of GTA VI, even if it means a price increase.

Alongside the debut trailer for GTA VI, we also learned that the game would be released sometime in 2025. That window was recently updated by Rockstar Games' parent company Take-Two Interactive who added that GTA VI will be released towards the end of 2025, assuming that it suffers no release date delay.

If you’ve been a fan of the Grand Theft Auto series from the beginning, then you will know that the newest game in the series very rarely releases on its intended launch date and despite this, Rockstar Games is still confident of the late 2025 launch window but also acknowledges that a delay can still happen.
In a tweet shared by Shinobi602, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke to CNBC Television and said the company is “highly confident” that GTA VI will be released at the end of 2025 but is aware that “slippage” aka a delay can happen. “We narrowed the timing because we are highly confident in that timing,” he said.
Understandably, fans are bracing themselves for the inevitable delay. “Already setting the stage for a delay,” said Reddit user NotEnoughMinerals.

“And slippage always happens, basically confirming the release date is bull,” vented Shellman00. “Spring 2026,” predicted a potential on-the-ball Reddit user.
Judging by previous habits, while it would be great to see GTA VI released in 2025 it might be safe to assume that it’s likely to be pushed back into 2026.
Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. At the time of writing, a PC release hasn't been announced by Rockstar.
