If you thought that the Grand Theft Auto VI price debate had quelled, you thought wrong.
Yes, fans are still discussing the prospect of that $100 price tag.
You can hardly blame them as we’re somewhat amidst a drought.

GTA VI is due to launch later this year, and Rockstar Games is yet to drop a second trailer.
It’s something many of us are clamouring for, as well as a release date, pre-order information, and a gameplay reveal.
In the meantime, industry analysts have taken to discussing GTA VI’s potential price.
In January, investment analyst Matthew Ball set the internet alight when he claimed that “there is hope” that GTA VI could be priced at “$80, or even $100”.

The idea was that breaking this “key price barrier” would provide a much needed revenue boost when the industry is struggling.
Of course, many were angered by the suggestion asking why players should bear the brunt of studios’ spiralling development costs - and it’s a good point.
The debate has reared its head once again though as it turns out, some GTA VI fans are actually happy to fork out the astronomical price.
Sorry, my friends. You’re going to have to watch GTA VI’s original trailer again.
Reddit user Abject-Salamander614 kicked off the discussion, explaining that, in their opinion, it takes a special game to charge $100.

“I really don’t understand how all these other game companies are delusional. You see all these articles about other companies wanting GTA VI to be $100. Like it’s going to benefit them? Games like Madden, NBA2K, MLB The Show, Assassins creed, COD, etc don’t deserve to be $100,” they wrote.
“If you put a new title out every year, they don’t deserve that price tag. I’ll without a doubt, pay $100 for GTA VI, but won’t pay more than $70 for any other game.”
“They price it at $100 and everyone will still buy it,” agreed Danielbreen.
For the most part, however, I’m relieved to see many fans standing up against this pricing idea.

“That's what happens when you open the flood gates. This is why nobody should be like, ‘I'm fine with GTA VI costing $100. But only GTA VI’. What do you think? That other companies won't immediately replicate that business model that, at the very least, will be successful for Rockstar,” argued Legolas5000.
“You might pay 100 but I'm sure the hell not paying 100 for a game,” commented Responsible-Pool-323.
I do urge you to take pricing rumours with a pinch of salt until pre-order and pricing information is released by Rockstar.
I’ll be honest, I’d be surprised if that $100 price tag ever came to fruition for a standard edition.
