Rockstar Games' parent company Take-Two Interactive has given us the GTA VI PC release date news we didn't want to hear, but it’s not all bad.
It’s pretty much a given that the next entry in the ever-popular Grand Theft Auto series will arrive on PC at some point. What isn’t a given, however, is whether it'll arrive alongside its console counterparts which is why this recent update won't be music to fans' ears.

GTA VI was officially revealed in December 2023 with a glorious trailer that had all but broken the internet. For days, all fans could talk about was this trailer and when GTA VI would grace us with its presence.

At the end of the trailer, it was confirmed that GTA VI will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S later this year, 2025. But there was no mention of a PC port, which understandably became a concern for loyal fans of the series.
That being said, fans shouldn't be too concerned with PC not being mentioned in the first GTA VI trailer, because we all know that this port will arrive one day, we just don't know when.
When speaking to IGN, founder and CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, acknowledged the importance of the PC market, perhaps hinting that the long-awaited GTA VI PC announcement isn't too far away. Even though the game wasn't mentioned directly.
“So with Civ 7, it's available on console and PC and Switch right away,” he said. “With regard to others in our lineup, we don't always go across all platforms simultaneously. Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms.”

“We have seen PCs become a much more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that trend continue. When you have a big title in the market and we have many of them coming, historically that has sold consoles," Zelnick continued.
“And I think that will happen this year. I don't think tariffs are going to be our friend, but I think there will be a meaningful uptick in console sales in calendar '25 because of the release schedule, not just coming from us, but coming from others."
“So I'm not concerned about that [console sales falling]. I think the trend that you'd want to focus on is this increasing share of the market that is reflected in PC,” he concluded. While there is some concern that Zelnick decided not to mention GTA VI, hopefully, Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive will announce the PC release date in the coming months.
In the meantime, we look forward to the arrival of Grand Theft Auto VI on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, currently scheduled to be released at the end of this year.
