It’s been a mixed bag of a week for ol’ Nintendo.
Fair to say, we were all positively hyped following the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct.
The hardware looks positively fantastic; I really wasn’t expecting the console to hit up to 120fps.

And those announced titles? Perfection.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will bring us the likes of Mario Kart World, a remastered The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker via Nintendo Switch Online, and a new FromSoft IP known as The Duskbloods which many are branding as Bloodborne 2.
But that hype and positively somewhat dissipated after the Direct ended when the Nintendo website updated to reveal various aspects of the Switch 2’s pricing.
The most egregious being the fact that Mario Kart World will launch for $79.99 / £74.99.

You can take a look at the game in action below.
I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that this is quite a hefty increase; currently, OG Nintendo Switch titles tend to hold a top RRP of $59.99 / £59.99.
That’s a major rise of $20 / £15 per game, on top of the fact that the Switch 2 itself costs a fat lot more than its predecessor.

Throw in additional Joy-Cons, the announced Nintendo Switch 2 camera, and it’s becoming a costly affair.
But what does this mean for Grand Theft Auto VI?
Well, you may recall that analysts previously sent the internet ablaze revealing that Rockstar could feasibly charge $100 for GTA VI.
And while you can understand their reasoning due to the immense hype and anticipation surrounding the game, many wrote it off as nonsense, claiming that studios and publishers would never go ahead with such out-of-touch pricing.

But that’s exactly what Nintendo has done, charging just shy of $80 for a physical copy of Mario Kart World.
It’s a title that, despite its price, is surely destined to be a big seller.
I’d go as far as saying that there’s probably very vew Switch owners who don’t own Mario Kart 8 Deluxe; it’s a console staple.
And so Rockstar must be thinking that if Nintendo can get away with it, then $100 for what’s being referred to as the biggest game of all-time might not be the improbability we all think it is.

Of course, we won’t know for certain until anything is confirmed by Rockstar, but I’d start bracing yourself for the worst, my friends.
