GTA VI might drop one of the most iconic gameplay features in the entire series.
Rockstar Games announced in February 2022 that Grand Theft Auto VI had begun its development. However, since that time we’ve not seen or heard anything about its progress, at least officially. We’ve had to make do with gameplay leaks as well as rumour and speculation. Sadly, we do not have official news today, but rather the latest rumour courtesy of the ever-spinning mill. As reported by Screen Rant, one of the series' most iconic gameplay features may be dropped in GTA VI.

Money and ammo are essential gameplay factors in the GTA series. Gaining in-game revenue will not only allow the player to acquire food and supplies, but it even aids the player to acquire vehicles (legally), properties and business. As for ammo, well it’s a GTA game, that is required for endless slaughter, naturally. The largest chunk of money gained in GTA is from completed missions or heists. Usually, the most gruelling task results in the biggest cash payout. Players can also receive cash, ammo and weapons whenever they kill an NPC. When the unfortunate NPC is killed, the player can loot any cash or items that were in their possession.

This feature has been in the series for as long as I can remember, as well as featuring prominently in Red Dead Redemption 2. Yet, if the latest rumours are true, that feature will be no more in GTA VI. Well, kind of. In previous GTA games, as soon as an NPC is killed, loot instantly hovers around their body. While this is unrealistic (which feels strange to say in a series as over-the-top as GTA), it’s particularly handy for the player, as the loot can be gobbled up quickly, especially when on the run from law enforcement.
Whereas in Red Dead Redemption 2, that obtainable loot has a slightly different process. Rather than loot becoming instantly available, players would first have to wait for the NPC to bleed out. Then when looting the NPC, a short animation would trigger. Sure this process was a little slower than the likes of GTA V, but I suppose it made things a little more realistic. Another feature that is rumoured to make its way into GTA VI from RDR2 is the way in which players interact with [living] NPCs. It is said that players will now have choice-based conversations with NPCs in GTA VI, which could alter certain outcomes in the story.
In recent Grand Theft Auto VI news, it’s feared that its gameplay reveal could be further away than we first thought, despite reports of someone apparently spotting a release date.
