Grand Theft Auto VI fans have been debating if they’ll be willing to pay the rumoured $100 price tag for Rockstar Games’ upcoming title - and, surprisingly, most are more than prepared to shell out three figures for it.
Rumours surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI’s inflated launch price have been rife for months now, and Nintendo’s decision to price certain Nintendo Switch 2 titles at a premium has only exacerbated the debate.
Over on the r/gta6 subreddit, one user had a very simple question for the fan base: “Are y'all really willing to pay 100$ for GTA 6?”

Surprisingly, most people in the comments sound like they’ll be paying whatever price Take-Two deems necessary.

“This game and Witcher 4 are the only games I'd be willing to honestly. Don't want to but I know they'd be quality and would get my time worth,” commented user tsckenny.

“I'd pay that for a game I know I'm going to be playing for a long time just like I did with GTA 5,” replied user Lextube. “Would I want to pay that every time it gets released for a new format? Hell no.”
On one hand, I understand the mentality. If one game takes more time and costs more money to develop, resulting in a longer, more content-rich experience, why not shell out that extra 10 to 20 dollars? You’ll get your money’s worth in the long run, right?
Here’s the issue: it doesn’t work like that, and it never has.
Maybe Grand Theft Auto VI will be worth $100, but every publisher is going to follow suit and charge the same amount for their AAA titles once Rockstar Games and Take-Two break the seal.

I genuinely believe that GTA VI retailing for anything more than the standard price will do irreparable damage to the gaming industry in the long term. Maybe that’s not fair, but it’s the truth.
