There’s no question that GTA VI is going to be huge in more ways than one when it finally releases in 2025.
The next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is already a huge deal and it’s still at least a year away from being released, assuming it suffers no delays, which is always likely, especially when it concerns Rockstar Games.
Check out the GTA VI trailer below!
When it graces us with its presence, not only will GTA VI likely break most sales and concurrent player number records, but it’s also likely to be the biggest game in the series in terms of map size.

With just about every Grand Theft Auto release, the maps have been bigger and better than its predecessor. However, not only are GTA maps huge but they’re also packed with fun content that can be more distracting than the main mission activities.
So it stands to reason that we hope that the map in GTA VI will far exceed that of 2013’s GTA V. At this time, we can only speculate how big the map of GTA VI will be, but as reported by Dexerto, the YouTube channel Dark Space thinks they may have the answer.
Thanks to data gathered from previous leaks, Dark Space recreated sections of the potential GTA VI map with its first official trailer also being used as a reference. If this estimate proves to be true, the GTA VI map could be almost twice as large as GTA V.
Just after four minutes in the video called ‘I made GTA VI before GTA VI’ a side-by-side comparison using Los Santos from GTA V and a concept map, shows that it takes almost twice as long to reach the most northern point of the map from the most southern.

“The map is bigger this time, and the locations are much more varied. We’ve got a much bigger city and multiple other cities as well. A massive lake at the centre and swamp lands in the south” said Dark Space in the video.
Of course, we should take this concept video with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise but hopefully, Rockstar Games won't leave us in the dark much longer when it comes to the official map size of GTA VI.
At the time of writing, GTA VI is scheduled to be released in late 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The inevitable PC release is yet to be announced.
