Rockstar Games is still suffering the consequences of the major cyber attack launched upon it in September of 2022, during which over an hour’s worth of Grand Theft Auto VI’s development footage was leaked alongside various screenshots and segments of source code.
A lot has changed since then. In December of last year, GTA VI’s first trailer finally dropped online providing us with our first official look at dual protagonists Jason and Lucia.
It’s been relatively quiet since then though - officially at least. We know that GTA VI is set to land in 2025, with insiders claiming that an early 2025 release is likely.

As such, we should expect marketing to ramp up as we enter the latter half of 2024, hopefully providing us with our first glimpse at gameplay.
I should specify an ‘official’ glimpse. That aforementioned leaked gameplay continues to surface online with fans currently enamoured with a section referred to as ‘The Waffle House Heist’.
ICYMI: Take a look at Grand Theft Auto VI in action below.
What I won’t be doing is showing you the leaked gameplay. After all, it’s a shame to ruin the launch experience for developers.

It’s clear that the leaked footage was taken from an early development build. Of course, those who have spent years pouring their hearts and souls into this game will want us to experience its finalised state.
The gist of it though is that the clip, shared on social media, showed Lucia wreaking havoc in a fast-food restaurant, prompting the police to be called.
Despite this being an early build, it’s a clip that’s still managed to impress prospective players.
“An early version of the game yet still looks good,” one viewer commented.

“That shoot is amazing,” another added. “This game will be f**king epic.”
It certainly bodes well for what’s to come. GTA VI is due to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2025.
