You know the drill by now. It’s still complete and utter radio silence from Rockstar Games, but insiders seem to be drip feeding us all kinds of tidbits in the meantime when it comes to Grand Theft Auto VI.
I’m scared of the day that GTA VI is finally revealed. It really could break the internet. Seeing as the game has been in development for over a decade, I think it’s fair to say that we’re all expecting big things. We’re still not sure when it’s due to be released. Both 2024 and 2025 have been thrown around as potential release windows, so it’s fair to say that we’re on the final countdown - even if we potentially do still have two years left to go. Insiders have recently teased that the game will include multiple time periods, the return of the chainsaw, and an overhaul of the game’s police. In this latest bit of news, it’s claimed that it’ll also have a game-changing ageing system. Consider me intrigued.
Rockstar’s PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch Red Dead Redemption port will be released on 17 August. Take a look below.
As reported by GGRecon, noted leaker RockstarGTAVI took to Twitter to explain a new ageing system that’s reported to be utilised in the game. The tweet reads, “GTA 6 characters will have ageing, and hair and beard growth,” alongside an image showing male and female characters getting progressively, well, hairier.

It sounds very similar to what we experienced in Red Dead Redemption 2 when Arthur’s hair would grow throughout the game. I’m imagining in the years since Red Dead 2 released, Rockstar Games have improved and fine tuned this mechanic.
Do take all leaks with a pinch of salt but seeing as this is similar to the above Red Dead mechanic, it sounds perfectly within reason that it would be in GTA VI too. We’ll have to hold out a little longer for confirmation though.
