Grand Theft Auto VI's team has just chowed down on a major milestone like Pac-Man chomping on pellets and development is about to seriously speed up, according to a leaker.
Sometimes I think about that time when Rockstar Games got so annoyed with fans clamoring for Grand Theft Auto VI on every Grand Theft Auto V video that it decided to mute all mentions of "GTA 6" on its YouTube channel. To me, that doesn't sound like a studio happy to hear the hype for its latest project. That sounds like a parent who snaps back at their wayward child, "We'll get there when we get there!"
Check out these super satisfying Grand Theft Auto drifting stunts here! See, Rockstar Games. We've been waiting for so long for Grand Theft Auto VI we're spinning cars round and round.
Still, it seems that the team isn't able to plug some of the leaks springing from the studio and the latest update is that the developers are popping the champers after closing a major chapter of Grand Theft Auto VI's development. "An important step in the development of #GTA6 has just been reached. Things should speed up (internally at Rockstar)," said Chris Klippel in a Tweet. "I think that a (real) announcement at the end of the year may be possible. In any case, I don't see the game arriving before the end of 2024!" Of course, Chris Klippel is the same leaker who said that the state of Grand Theft Auto VI was shambolic and the obstacles that Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V suffered look like speed bumps in comparison. That was hardly the scoop we were hoping for however it did draw attention to the fact that Rockstar Games seems to be seriously taking its time to ensure that the next game is as good as possible.

Furthermore, Klippel's claims about the timeline and potential release of Grand Theft Auto VI tie into the assertions from analysts who have extrapolated Rockstar Games' game plan from its financial documents. "There are only a handful of titles that can...provide management with the confidence to put out such a strong guidance; we believe there is at least one Rockstar IP set to be released by FY24," said investment banking firm Jefferies in January.
Naturally, we should still consider this leak with a pinch of salt - the "important step" isn't specified after all - until we get our hands on some concrete information from the developer or publisher. If Klippel is on the money, then we've got just... nine more months to wait.
